The Value of Demographic Factors in Opening a Successful Practice: Part XI, Accessibility and Visibility

Is your office open or closed?

“Yeah, I know where New York City is, but I don’t think you can get there from here,” said a New England farmer to a tourist.

A very successful chiropractor made the big decision to relocate his office from a small town to a location on a nearby freeway. The office had great visibility from the freeway except for one thing – everyone could see this beautiful office but it was at least a mile in either direction to the nearest access road. You could see it from the road, but how do you get there? Today that beautiful million-dollar building no longer houses a chiropractor. The dichotomy between visibility and accessibility played a part in this unfortunate scenario. Make sure your office is visible. You can always improve the exterior or interior but you cannot move the building. Location, location, location.

Can you get there from here? Are your patients able not only to see your office, but can they get into your office easily? Is the parking lot easily accessed from the nearby road? Are your entrances well marked and large enough? Do you have enough parking spaces so you can provide easy parking for all your patients? The fewer hassles, the better.
