The Value of Demographic Factors in Opening a Successful Practice: Part VI, Ask the Right Questions

You planned the work and worked the plan; it is time to visit the potential sites. It is important that at least one of your sites is a magnet community. A magnet community is usually a county seat, which encourages people to conduct business there on a regular basis. What about shopping? One of the most important things is the presence of an updated hospital with an abundance of specialists and associated professionals such as dentists and orthodontists. People will be attracted to this community for health care and this will attract them to you. You should have a major discount store and smaller satellite shops. Recreational facilities such as cinemas, theatres, and a college with various sports teams are important. Colleges also provide other cultural venues such as plays, orchestras, and an opportunity to take extension courses. Are there opportunities for amateur sports? Is there hunting and fishing nearby? Is your church or synagogue represented in this community?

Talk with the town’s people and determine their attitude towards chiropractic care. Above all, talk to the chiropractors. What are their techniques, facilities, and their attitude toward you? You can determine the chiropractic climate and perhaps one of these practitioners would like to retire soon and would be willing to sell you his practice.  Do not be afraid to ask the right questions to determine if this is the community where you wish to spend the rest of your life. This is all a vital part of the process to find your dream location.
