The Value of Demographic Factors in Opening a Successful Practice: Part III, Chiromap Program – An Overview

The Chiromap program is designed as a screening tool. First the graduate has to determine where she would like to live and practice. The graduate then uses the reference tools in the Office of Alumni and Career Services, such as the Places Almanac or the Chamber of Commerce directory, to learn more about the chiropractic climate in that locale. The Job Analysis by State can be used to determine the rough estimate of chiropractors to DC ratio.

The Chiromap contains 3,400 counties in the United States, including Hawaii and Alaska. It consists of a transparent 30-by-40 map. Each state contains lists of HMOs and PPOs. The map contains all the counties and is shaded in six gradations to denote the ratio of the ideal chiropractor population, 24-55 years of age in each county.

Once you have determined which counties interest you from the Chiromap, go to the Locus Map Internet ranking file of the counties and zip codes, which give you seven additional essential factors to determine your high potential practice site. The Internet listings are shaded to quickly identify the superior high-potential sites. First check the counties and then the county zip codes.

Now comes the fun part. Visit your favorite sites. Explore the neighborhood; check out schools, churches, cultural centers and even meet the chiropractors in these zip codes. Is this a magnet community that draws people to it? Discuss your decision with your family and peers. Make your decision on all on these factors and have a wonderful life.

Use the Chiromap program in the Office of Alumni and Career Services or see http://locusmap.com/ to order studies. For information, our e-mail address is: info@locusmap.com or call (800) 743-6676.
