Northwestern Students and Staff Recognized for Random Acts of Kindness

Posted on Oct. 1, 2009

Students and staff from Northwestern Health Sciences University were recently recognized by the Random Acts of Kindness (RAK) program, a program created by the Student Senate Volunteer Committee.

The Part IV Club was recognized in May 2009 for their efforts in preparing Northwestern students for the Part IV boards. The student club planned and organized a mock Part IV for interested students. Part IV Club members will receive a dinner out, compliments of Student Senate.

The staff in the Student Records and Financial Services department was recognized in June 2009 for helping students with all the logistics related to scheduling, coursework and financing school. Student Senate surprised the office with breakfast from Bruegger’s Bagels and Caribou Coffee.

“This office always provides top-notch service,” says Miaken Zeigler, chiropractic student and coordinator of the RAK program. “They are always available for questions and advice. They’re friendly, willing to help and support, and they do it all with a smile.”

The RAK honorees in July 2009 were Louise Hess and Tess Caskey. They were recognized for providing outstanding service, helping patients, interns and doctors with anything and everything in the University Health Services clinic. Hess and Caskey received a bouquet of flowers from Student Senate.

A display case featuring Random Acts of Kindness honorees is located on the lower level next to Room 10. RAK nominations can be sent to Zeigler at mlzeigler@nwhealth.edu. Nominations should include the person or group name and the reason they should be recognized. Nominations will be discussed within the volunteer committee, and the selected individual or group will be recognized during the third or fourth week of the month.
