Richfield Band Performance Now Free to Attendees

Posted on April 25, 2008

Northwestern Health Sciences University will host a performance by the Richfield Symphonic Band in the auditorium on Tuesday, April 29 from 7 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. that will now be offered at no cost to attendees. Donations to the University’s capital campaign will be accepted.

Not only will there be great music, but also wine and cheese before the performance and during intermission, said Jeff Graham, human resources generalist for Northwestern.

The event, which is a collaborative effort between Tom Tjornhom, DC, and the Community of Sharing committee at Northwestern, will provide a nice evening out and an excellent affordable way to support the University, Graham said.

Dr. Tjornhom, who plays with the band, approached Brady Forseth, BA, director of development for Northwestern, about performing. Dr. Tjornhom is a 1952 graduate of Northwestern.

Many of the band’s 45 members are retired professional musicians. They perform eight concerts throughout the year and actively support veteran’s events as they once operated under the Richfield American Legion.

Graham said it will be a new way for the community to help the University and enjoy a night out.

"It will be a night of culture and a wonderful way to recognize alumni and give back to Northwestern,” Graham said.
