Northwestern Embraces the Upcoming Season of Giving
Posted on Nov. 11, 2009
‘Tis the season of giving, and Northwestern Health Sciences University is once again collecting gifts for Cornerstone’s annual Santa Shop, to help young victims of domestic abuse experience the excitement and joy of giving. Each year the Santa Shop is stocked with gifts for the children to give to their family and friends. These gifts come from your charitable donations. Beginning Nov. 13, 2009, unwrapped gifts can be placed in any of the boxes located in the foyer, the fireplace lounge, outside the library, or near the Bloomington Natural Care Center doors.
This is the third year that Northwestern has collected items for Cornerstone’s Santa Shop. “I hope that, like the last few years, we can all pull together and get as many great gifts as we can for the kids,” says Ryan Chapman, community relations coordinator.
“Northwestern has been a huge supporter of Cornerstone,” says Amy Kondziolka, children, youth and families program manager at Cornerstone. In the past, the University has held food and toy drives, and donated the proceeds from the annual CDI Back in Shape Run and Patrick Holmes Memorial Walk to Cornerstone. “Northwestern massage therapy students have even given our clients free massages,” says Kondziolka. “The clients love it. We really appreciate all that Northwestern has done.”
Students, staff and faculty are encouraged to donate a Santa Shop gift for a parent, a gift for a sibling of any age; or gift boxes, wrapping paper, gift bags, bows, tape, and gift tags. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 10, 2009.
