Clubs and Organizations Offer A Vibrant Student Life at Northwestern Health Sciences University

Posted on Sept. 23, 2009

Students at Northwestern Health Sciences University can take advantage of a wide range of clubs and organizations designed to enhance their experience at Northwestern. The Student Senate is hosting a Club and Organization Day this Thursday, Sept. 24, from noon – 1 p.m. in the foyer, to introduce students to the many opportunities available.

Research shows that participation in student activities and organizations has a positive effect on student satisfaction and academic performance, notes Emily Tweed, PhD, associate vice president and dean of students at Northwestern.

“I am thrilled to see so many student organizations on a campus of our size,” says Dr. Tweed. “It speaks to the leadership ability of our students, and the future of our students as leaders in their professions.”

With more than 40 active groups on campus, there is something for everyone. From academic and technique clubs such as the Animal Chiropractic Club or the Herb Club; to cultural groups such as the Canadian Club or the Student Ambassador club; to student chapters of state, local and national organizations; students can enrich their Northwestern experience by finding a group that suits their interest.

A complete list of clubs and organizations is available here. Students are encouraged to stop by during Club and Organization Day to learn more.

“Student involvement,” says Dr. Tweed, “promotes involvement and integration for students in all programs outside of the classroom, offers leadership development opportunities, and adds balance that is so crucial for today's student.”
