Northwestern will host its first ever “Talk the ’Tic” competition June 25, 2009. “Talk the ’Tic” is a national competition put on by chiropractic schools. It challenges students to develop a 10-minute health talk focused on educating the public about the benefits of chiropractic care.
Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend. The event will be held in the auditorium starting at 5:30 p.m. and is free. Eighteen Northwestern students are signed up to participate in the competition.
A contribution from the Northwestern Chiropractic College Alumni Association helped Matt Mullaney, T9 chiropractic student, bring the event to the University. Mullaney heard about the competition from a friend and requested the funding from the alumni association. “I’m excited about the enthusiastic response from students. Registration for the competition filled in three days,” says Mullaney.
The winner of the competition at Northwestern will travel with Mullaney to the national finals in July at Life West Chiropractic College, in Hayward, Calif. Northwestern’s student winner will compete at the national competition against students from five other schools for a prize worth approximately $9,000.
