Celebrate Canada Day with a Wine and Cheese Party at Northwestern
Posted on June 30, 2009
Northwestern Health Sciences University’s Canadian Club invites students, staff, faculty, and spouses to celebrate Canada Day on July 1, 2009. The event will take place from 7 p.m. -10 p.m. in the cafeteria. Enjoy Canadian music; sample five types of wine; and taste cheeses from around the globe.
According to Letitia Russel, chiropractic student and president of the Canadian Club, Canada Day celebrates the anniversary of the July 1, 1867 enactment of the British North America Act which united Canada as a single country. Generally people celebrate by attending outdoor activities such as fireworks, parades, and festivals. “We will be giving away prizes to those that can answer Canadian trivia questions,” she adds. “This is a really fun event and we generally have a pretty good turn out. Since there are so many Canadians on campus, our goal is to provide resources and support to them, as well as provide a Canadian experience to the rest of the campus community.”
