An interest in naturopathic
medicine and natural healing runs deep in Amrit
Devgun’s family. As a child, she remembers
her father helping and healing others with homeopathy. “Watching
Dad help others was an inspiration and made it
easy for me to choose a career in noninvasive,
safe and effective natural therapies. I knew
that this was exactly what I wanted to do.” Her
father in turn was inspired by her great-grandparents
who were known as the local community healers
back in India.
Amrit moved to Minnesota in 1995, having graduated
from the Canadian College of Naturopathic Medicine
in Toronto. She had her own practice before joining
the Natural Care Center at Woodwinds. Amrit holds
a license from the Board of Drugless Therapy-Naturopathy,
Ontario, Canada. She is a member of the American
Association of Naturopathic Physicians, Ontario
Association of Naturopathic Doctors and the Minnesota
Association of Naturopathic Physicians. As a
naturopathic practitioner at the Natural Care
Center at Woodwinds, her goal is to empower her
patients to take responsibility for their health. “Improvements
in health are possible if patients commit to
making long-term changes in their lifestyle.
In order to do that, they need to take ownership
of their lifestyle choices.” She considers
herself a health and wellness coach at the Natural
Care Center and enjoys practicing in an integrative
environment.
Amrit's focus is on ayurvedic medicine, traditional
eastern medicine, which she routinely incorporates
into her patient consultations. Her other professional
interests include women’s health, chronic
ailments and endocrine imbalances using ayurvedic
medicine, detoxification, homeopathy, botanical
medicine, nutritional supplementation, dietary
and lifestyle counseling and iridology. Over
the last 13 years, she has spoken and written
extensively on topics relating to complementary
alternative medicine.
Amrit lives in Woodbury with her husband and
two daughters. She enjoys dancing, being with
nature, traveling, experimental cooking and learning
about cultures around the world. As part of her
mission towards wellness, she is on the nutrition
task force committee at her daughter’s
school, hoping to change what we see in our children’s
lunchboxes today. When seen at school, some children
are heard asking, “Isn’t that the
food doctor?”! |
