Barbara Bullentini,
RN, CHTP, is a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner
at the Natural Care Center at Woodwinds. Healing
Touch, newly introduced in 2003 to the array
of services provided at the Natural Care Center,
is an energy-based therapy that promotes deep
relaxation and healing. This non-invasive technique
uses the hands to clear, energize and balance
the human and environmental energy fields, thus
affecting physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual
health and healing.
Healing Touch complements
both conventional health care and natural approaches
to health and healing. Healing Touch can be
an integral component of the treatment plan for
chronic pain conditions, such as headaches,
arthritis, fibromyalgia, neck pain and back pain;
radiation treatment and chemotherapy for cancerous
conditions; pre- and post-surgical care; pregnancy,
labor and delivery; and end-of-life care. The
benefits of Healing Touch include promotion of
deep relaxation and sleep; pain reduction; relief
of stress and anxiety; facilitation of the natural
healing process; and relief of nausea.
Bullentini
has been a Certified Healing Touch Practitioner
since 1998, having studied at the Colorado
Center for Healing Touch International in Lakewood,
Colorado. She has been in private practice
since 1997, delivering Healing Touch to clients
in their homes. A registered nurse since 1979,
with experience in hospital-based surgical nursing
and maternity care, she applied Healing Touch
techniques to pre- and post-operative patients;
patients during labor; and patients with chronic
pain conditions. Bullentini graduated from
the massage therapy program at the Minneapolis
School of Massage and Bodywork in 1996, and she
is a professional member of Healing Touch International
and the Minnesota Nursing Association.
In addition to her clinical responsibilities,
Bullentini teaches Introduction to Healing Touch
(at the Holistic Nursing level two) and coordinates
Healing Touch workshops at Woodwinds three times
a year.
