| David Smith, DC, practices
at the Natural Care Center at Woodwinds as a doctor of chiropractic.
He is a member of the National Board of Chiropractic
Examiners and is an associate professor at Northwestern Health Sciences University. With
more than two decades of clinical practice he demonstrates
an expansive knowledge of patient care. His formal
chiropractic education began with undergraduate
courses in mechanical engineering at the University
of Minnesota; he continued his education at Northwestern
College of Chiropractic and earned his doctor
of chiropractic degree and a bachelor of science
degree in 1983. Dr. Smith founded and directed
Northwestern's Burnsville clinic for more than
two years and later became director of the Bloomington
campus clinic. Dr. Smith joined the Natural
Care Center at Woodwinds in early 2000. He was
one of the developers of the mentorship model
of care for Northwestern's clinic system.
After graduating from Northwestern, Dr. Smith
had a successful practice in Minnetonka, Minn.
He later served as director of the Mjoen Chiropractic
Clinic in Austin, Minn. He expanded his
areas of study by attending numerous continuing
education seminars in many chiropractic areas
including sports medicine, nutrition, motion
palpation and orthopedics. In addition, Dr.
Smith has served as a primary research clinician
in several studies conducted by Northwestern's
Wolfe-Harris Center for Clinical Studies. Research
included carpal tunnel syndrome, low-back pain,
sciatica and migraine headache pain. He enjoys
and succeeds in helping those with difficult
and chronic conditions.
