Sher Demeter, LAc,
is a licensed acupuncturist and faculty clinician
at the Natural Care Center at Woodwinds. She holds
a Masters of Acupuncture from the Minnesota College
of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine at Northwestern
Health Sciences University. Demeter is licensed
through the Minnesota Board of Medical Practice
and is registered as a Diplomate of Acupuncture
with the National Certification Commission for
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. She is a member
of the Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine Alliance,
the Society for Acupuncture Research, and the
American Association of Oriental Medicine.
Demeter's introduction to acupuncture
was more than a decade ago, when it became an
important tool in her own self care. The positive
effects of acupuncture treatment deepened her
commitment to the principles of a balanced lifestyle.
She believes that Oriental medicine's important
contribution is in its early recognition of patterns
of seemingly unrelated symptoms. Treatment can
intervene and hopefully prevent or slow down
further development of these patterns into destructive
disease processes.
"New choices in healthcare treatment
are not simply 'alternative'…they
are essential," Demeter believes. "We
cannot afford to ignore the potent tools that
lie within our reach, the messages that are continually
given by our bodies, and the beauty of the transformative
powers that reside within us all." |
