Homecoming 2025: Chris Smoley, DC

Chris Smoley Homecoming Speaker February 2023Christopher Smoley is currently an assistant professor and chair of the Radiology Department at Northwestern Health Sciences University.  He is a Minnesota native raised in Sartell, just outside of St. Cloud. Chris did most of his undergraduate work at St. Cloud State University. He went on to earn his BS and DC degrees from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, IA.

Chris was accepted into the diagnostic imaging residency at Parker University in Dallas, TX. This is where he successfully completed his residency and board examinations earning him his DACBR. After passing his board examinations he became faculty at Parker for one year. He was offered a position at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY as an assistant professor of radiology. Chris was the chair of the assessment team, authored a CCE response for assessment shortly after his arrival, and later a self-study.

He was the accreditation liaison and lead the program to a successful 8-year CCE accreditation of the chiropractic program. Furthermore, he wrote and submitted a new curriculum to New York State and CCE, which was successfully accepted by both. While serving at D’Youville College he was the Exam soft Campus Administrator for all the programs and an active participant in the regional accreditation, assessment, and curriculum committees for both graduate and undergraduate programs.

He was awarded faculty of the year each year at D’Youville College and Distinguished Educator of the Year at Parker University. Before leaving D’Youville College for a faculty position closer to home at Palmer College in Davenport, IA he was the Executive Director of the D’Youville Chiropractic Program. Since his time at D’Youville College he has been hired as an external consultant for program assessment and is a reviewer for Chiropractic and Manual Therapies, The Journal of Chiropractic Education, and Osmosis.org. He also reads MSK studies for diagnostic imaging facilities across Texas part-time.
