Historic commencement as colleges hold combined ceremony

Acupuncture and Oriental medicine, massage therapy and undergraduate students will graduate together this weekend.

Northwestern Health Sciences University will mark an historic occasion this week when students in the College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, the College of Undergraduate Health Sciences and the School of Massage Therapy graduate in a combined commencement ceremony on December 14, 2013.

In another first, 10 chiropractic students have completed the requirements to earn a Bachelor of Science degree prior to completing their doctor of chiropractic degree. They will continue working toward a D.C. degree. In total, 22 students will be graduating.

Graduating students Taylor N. Morisette, School of Massage Therapy, and Jessica R. Kuhlman, College of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine, will give the student greeting. Commencement speakers are James R. Hulbert, PhD, associate professor; and Michael Egan, MOm, DiplOM, LAc, alumnus, adjunct faculty member and clinic supervisor.

Commencement will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2013, in the Northwestern Health Sciences University auditorium. A reception for the graduates and guests will follow in the cafeteria.
