NWHSU's annual chiropractic event focuses on continuing education, alumni connections!

Hundreds of health professionals from across the country and around the world are expected to travel to Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU) this week to attend the College of Chiropractic Homecoming and Winter Gathering 2019.

The event, one of the largest activities each year on NWHSU’s Bloomington campus, is an opportunity for graduates to reconnect with their school and for them and others to benefit from continuing education as well as seminars discussing advances in their profession.

Classes will range from sessions on sports injuries and prevention of chronic pain and depression to public policy issues affecting chiropractors and health professionals at the state and national levels. The keynote speaker will be Richard Brown, secretary-general of the World Federation of Chiropractic, a non-profit, non-governmental organization affiliated with the World Health Organization.

The three-day event begins at 8 a.m. Thursday with Brown’s keynote speech in NWHSU’s main auditorium. It wraps up after sessions Saturday, which will follow a Friday night gala dinner for attendees at the Hyatt Regency Bloomington Hotel.

“This is a special event that our alumni, our students, our faculty and our visitors look forward to every year,” said NWHSU President and CEO Deb Bushway. “Our alumni and visitors say that the opportunity to make connections with classmates and other health professionals is a primary reason to return each year. Our sessions also bring the latest in health-care thinking and advances to light, offering real value to our attendees.”

New for this year’s event is a special track for chiropractic students called Chiropractic Connections: Learners Becoming Leaders.

“Combining educational sessions with a networking mixer for upper-level students, NWHSU alumni and sponsors, this Thursday track promises to be a valuable experience for all participants— particularly for chiropractic doctors in the making,” Bushway said.
