Veterans to be honored at special events

Film and discussion highlight Nov. 9 activities in Bloomington

BLOOMINGTON, Minn.—Members of the public and military veterans are invited to an evening honoring the service of veterans at a series of free community events Nov. 9—two days before Veterans Day—on the campus of Northwestern Health Sciences University.
A resource fair for veterans and their families will be from 4 to 5 p.m. and also from 6 to 6:30 p.m. on the campus, 2501 W. 84th St. Exhibitors will include Hennepin County Veterans Services, Beyond the Yellow Ribbon, the Agent Orange Education Campaign and others.
The evening will conclude with a film of interviews of local Vietnam veterans followed by a discussion between veterans who served in Vietnam, Iraq and Afghanistan moderated by Katie Carpenter, special projects lead at TPT-Twin Cities PBS. Attendees will learn more about the similarities and differences of their experiences and how all community members can support veterans.
