Academic honesty and integrity are highly valued in the NWHSU campus community. Academic dishonesty seriously violates the integrity of the academic enterprise and will not be tolerated.
Examples of prohibited behaviors which are violations of the Standards of Conduct and may result in a report of Academic Misconduct are described in Section 3.2.3 of the Student Handbook.
Possible sanctions include:
- A written warning to the student,
- A grade of zero, OR
- Other sanctions as deemed appropriate
How to report academic misconduct
Step 1 – Fill out Academic Misconduct Violation Report Form
If an occurrence of academic misconduct is witnessed or reported to a faculty member, the faculty member fills out an:
- Academic Misconduct Form (pdf)
Step 2 – Decide how to proceed with misconduct report
The faculty member chooses how to proceed with the report of academic misconduct by either:
- Handling the situation themselves, OR
- Forwarding the Academic Misconduct Violation Report Form to the Program Dean for adjudication
Step 3 – Proceed with performing the investigation and notifying the student(s)

Referral to the Behavior Standards Committee
The Dean of Student and Alumni Services, in collaboration with the faculty member, may refer the matter to the Behavior Standards Committee if the situation is determined to be serious enough or if the student(s) have a history of academic misconduct.
