How Much Money Can I Borrow?

Loan limits for Federal Stafford and Perkins loans are the maximum a student can borrow. Students cannot borrow more than the cost of education minus any other financial aid.

Federal Perkins Loans

For any student who has not completed two academic years of undergraduate work.

For an undergraduate student who has completed two academic years and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree.

$27,500

For a graduate or professional student, including loans borrowed as an undergraduate student.

$40,000

Awards may vary each trimester.

Private Loans

Consult the lender you chose when you applied for a Private Loan.

NOTE: The amount you borrow will be split evenly between two trimesters. For example, if you borrow $5,000, your loan will split evenly: $2,500 for fall and $2,500 for winter.
