The following questions are common IT Troubleshooting steps taken when a computer is not working properly.

• Is the battery fully charged?
• Have you tried restarting the device?
• Is the device connected to the internet, if applicable? If so, have you checked the internet speed? speedtest.net
• Have you tried signing out or logging out of the application? Depending on the application, have you tried uninstalling or reinstalling it
• Have you tried clearing cache/cookies?
• Is the device getting regular operating system (OS) updates?
• Have you tried using a different browser? (Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge)
• Is there enough storage space on the device?
• Is the application using my NWHSU email or a personal account?
• Have you tried contacting the manufacturer of the device/software?

Please note that NWHSU is a bring your own device University, therefore IT will not provide service to fix malware or viruses on your computer. IT Help Desk can offer support and guidance on getting the appropriate applications to run, but please see the hardware requirements https://www.nwhealth.edu/admissions/ipad-requirements/ for more information.

The user account information created by NWHSU allows you to use Single Sign-On (SSO) and sign into several applications with the same credentials:

• Learning Management Systems (LMS): to access your NWHSU courses and New Student Resources.
  • Moodle
  • Canvas
• Colleague Self-Service to access your financial aid, register for courses, and make payments through Colleague.
• Microsoft Office 365 Applications (use full email address vs username to sign-in)
  • Outlook
  • For more Microsoft 365 applications, use the App launcher in the upper left corner. Click on the applications needed, such as OneDrive, OneNote, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Teams.
• Electronic Medical Records (EMR) access:
  • Jane RDS: Please refer to the NWHSU Multifactor Authentication and Clinic Electronic Medical Records System Agreement for requirements of the EMR system.
• On Campus Resources:
  • Log into any NWHSU computer with SSO
  • Log into Papercut and/or scan student ID for Printing
• Library Tools
  • Grammarly

How to create a Visible Body account

If your instructor is using Visible Body to create courses, they will send you an invitation link. That link is specially formatted to help you set up an account through the NWHSU subscription using your nwhealth.edu email address. You will not need to pay for the app if you create your
subscription using this link. Once your account is created, you can use your login information on any device. Complete instructions are here: Visible Body – Student Instructions

Creating an account for the first time and getting an error message

Only students in active courses will be able to follow the account creation process. If you are a new student, and your class hasn’t yet started, please wait until the first day of class and try again. If you still get an error, please email it@nwhealth.edu. They will ensure that you are set up
with the right access to proceed.

Emergency alerts, announcements, and weather-related closures are sent from RAVE. The NWHSU email is used for all currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff. Click here to update your account preferences.

Step 1. First get Examplify. This is the free program you will use to take your exam while here at

Northwestern Health Sciences University.

• iPad users will go to the App Store and download it.
• Windows and MacBook users will find links here on our ExamSoft Home Page, aka the portal. Click this link or copy and paste this URL in your browser: www.examsoft.com/nwhealthsciences

Step 2. Next, register within Examplify. Once you are registered you can download and take assessments.

• Open Examplify on your device.
• Follow the prompts to “Add New Account”
• Scroll to the bottom of the Software License Agreement and hit “I Agree”
• Enter an Institution ID. Fastest way is to type in the first three letters of our unique institutional ID – nwhealthsciences. You’ll see the correct name pop up – Northwestern Health Sciences University
• Tap or click Next
• Account Details window opens – Enter your NW email address in the next window. This must be your NW email address. That’s how they know you and keep track of you. Enter the entire email address including the domain ‘@nwhealth.edu’.
• Give it a minute or two, then log in to your NW Outlook email account and follow those links.

Step 3. Finally, log in to Examplify with:

• Your user ID which is always student ID number.
• Your password that you created yourself.

Tips and tricks:

• On occasion you will need to go to the NWHSU ExamSoft HYPERLINK and the best browsers for this are Firefox and Chrome.
• Each trimester students need to renew their registration by taking the prompts to “Add New Account.”
• When problems develop, e.g. downloading and uploading assessments, a restart of your device is often all that needs to be done. Help is available through the capable staff at ExamSoft who are available 24/7 at this number 866-429-8889. For specific exam related problems, you may contact our ExamSoft administrators.

Students can print documents to the SecurePrint printer from the computers in the library or walkups on campus. Students can also email papercut@nwhealth.edu from your NWHSU account.

• When you print from your personal laptop or any mobile device, you must send your documents from your NWHSU Email Account.
• If your total email size exceeds 3MB, your print job(s) will not send.
• The larger the file, the longer it takes to show up in your queue.

Instructions to print from your email:

• Email Login: https://outlook.office.com/
• Create a new email message
• Attach the document(s) you want to print to the email.
• Any links to a document will not send to the queue, only attached document(s)
• Send the email to papercut@nwhealth.edu
• It will create print jobs for each attachment. You can then select these documents at the MFD/printer where you want to print.
• At the Printer Control Panel, you can modify your print job once you scan your badge.
• Your print job remains in the queue for 24 hours.

Printer Device Maintenance: If the printer/scanner on campus has a malfunction, please have the department lead contact the vendor listed on the device for support. If the printer is out of toner, please note the printer/scanner on campus are on an auto-ship replacement plan and are delivered to the location/department listed on the package. The hallway printers are managed by the IT department, and you may contact IT for toner and/or paper replacement.

Each student is required to have a student ID badge and is typically distributed during enrollment. If you need an ID, please email it@nwhealth.edu and set up an appointment to get your ID.  On the date/time of your appointment, go to Room 25 to pick up your ID.
