Health Coaching at the Bloomington Clinic

Health coaches play a vital role in helping individuals improve their overall health and well-being through positive and sustainable lifestyle changes. They work closely with their clients to assess their current health status, identify their goals, and develop strategies to achieve their goals.

How can health coaching support you?

We often say that health coaches can make a real difference in the lives of their clients. But what do we mean by that? Health and wellbeing coaches partner with clients to facilitate belief and behavior changes that lead to healthier lives, increase support with disease, chronic pain and illness.

Why is behavior change important?

80% of chronic disease and premature death could be prevented by lifestyle changes (for example, not smoking, being physically active, fostering healthy relationships, and adhering to a healthful dietary pattern).

Health coaches can offer support and resources to address emotional, psychological, and social factors impacting health. Through active listening and effective communication, they create a safe and supportive environment where clients can discuss their challenges, aspirations, and barriers.

Health coaches can help you with a variety of health and wellness goals. Including:

  • Creating (and sticking to) a healthier eating plan
  • Adding more movement into your day
  • Managing your stress more effectively
  • Navigating the healthcare system
  • Managing a clinical condition

What Can You Expect in a Health Coaching Session through Bloomington Clinic?

NWHSU offers a graduate certificate in health and wellbeing coaching. Bloomington Clinic’s health coaching services are provided by students working to become certified health coaches. Their work is supervised by a Nationally Board Certified Health and Wellness Coach.

Our student health coaches work closely with you to address beliefs and behaviors that increase your risk of illness and disease. Together, you’ll create an achievable action plan to implement lifestyle changes that may produce meaningful and sustainable results.

You will receive 3 or more 30-60 minute sessions of free coaching. These meetings will take place virtually, either via phone or online.
