Radiation Therapy Program Admission Requirements
Radiation Therapy – admission requirements include:
- High school diploma or a General Educational Development diploma (GED)
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher
- Submission of an application
- Meeting with the Program Chair
- Provide 2 professional references*
- *References: Provide the name and email address of two references who you have known for at least six months. An email address is required, so please have this information available when you apply. Relatives are not accepted as references.
- Eight hours of adequate shadowing
- Personal essay following the completion of your shadow experiences
- Each applicant will be evaluated, and the top candidates will be invited to an interview with our selection committee.
- Meet all additional qualifications
Radiation Therapy Application Personal Essay
For your personal essay, please write 700 to 1000 words addressing the following:
- Part 1:
- Provide background information about yourself
- Explain your reasons for choosing the A.S. degree program at Northwestern Health Sciences University
- Part 2: Describe the responsibilities and key skills required for a radiation therapist. Based on your shadow experience, describe what characteristics would make a successful Radiation Therapist and why you feel you would be a good fit for this program
Radiation Therapy Program Prerequisites
- There are no prerequisites for entry to the program; however, there are several core science courses as well as an introductory lab course that must be completed during the student’s first trimester in the program in order to progress further into the curriculum
