How NWHSU Measures Up: Tuition, Grad Rates & Board Scores

Choosing a chiropractic school is a huge decision. How do you compare different programs, and ultimately make your choice? We’ve compiled what matters in choosing a chiropractic school to show exactly how NWHSU measures up.

You’ll want to think about it from a variety of angles: including cost of tuition, graduation rates, and board scores. We’ll break it down for you:

How NWHSU Measures Up on Board Scores

Passing your NBCE Boards is a crucial step in becoming a chiropractor. You’ll want to choose a school that prepares you for success not only in your career, but in passing the test. Luckily, NWHSU prepares you for both. In fact, we’re number two in the nation for board scores, with a 94.5% pass rate within 6 months of graduation.

The difference between a board pass rate in the 90s versus low 80s could make a serious difference in how quickly you’ll be able to start your practice. A lower board pass rate implies students need to dedicate more time preparing and scheduling to retake their boards which can delay your timeline of opening your own practice or beginning work with another doctor.

Some popular institutions have board pass rates nearly 20% lower than NWHSU — a difference that could cost you months of momentum after graduation.

How NWHSU Measures Up on Graduation Rates

You want to choose a chiropractic school where you’ll be successful. NWHSU’s College of Chiropractic is number two in the nation for graduation rates (91.2%, 4-year rolling average). School is a major investment, and you want to choose somewhere that will support you through graduation. NWHSU’s engaged faculty, counseling center, disability services, and other student services will support you as you navigate the challenge of a rigorous chiropractic program.

But here, you won’t simply graduate. NWHSU’s curriculum is designed to give you confidence. As the only competency-centered curriculum in the country, you’ll gain more clinical experience, starting trimester one. And you’ll understand deeply how your classwork applies to clinical practice.

How NWHSU Measures Up on Tuition

You don’t necessarily want to choose a chiropractic school because it’s less expensive than the rest, but you certainly want a good value. We’ve already talked about NWHSU’s excellent board pass and graduation rates—so how does the cost compare?

NWHSU has the lowest chiropractic school tuition in the Midwest, and the third lowest tuition in the United States. This can affect how much debt you graduate with, making a significant difference.

If you’re a Canadian student, NWHSU also has a reciprocity program that can lower your tuition by up to 25%–a significant difference!

After School: What Can You Expect in Your Career as an NWHSU Alum?

Graduating and passing your boards, with less debt, is a huge accomplishment. But you came to chiropractic school to build a fulfilling career, not to collect a degree. NWHSU graduates work in diverse settings: from small town private practice, to serving major sports teams, to working in interdisciplinary clinics across the country.

Most NWHSU chiropractic graduates have a clear path to employment upon graduation. Many work as associates or start their own practices (a recent chiropractic grad talked through all the options here).

And, you can feel confident, knowing that chiropractic is a growing field with many career pathways you can take!

What Will Life Look Like During School?

We don’t have to convince you that academic success and low tuition are important when choosing a chiropractic school. But you should also consider what your life will look like during those three years. Where will you live? Will you make friends and find ways to be engaged? Will you be stuck in lecture halls all day?

NWHSU is located in a green, quiet suburb of the Twin Cities, Minnesota. Many chiropractic students live close to campus, and we help you connect with roommates and housing options if you’re interested. On campus, we have a fitness facility and plenty of comfortable study places to post up.

Moreover, we have an active student body, with many student clubs and organizations to choose from to help you build community.

Finally, we’ve already mentioned NWHSU’s competency-centered curriculum, meaning more application to clinical practice right away, and less time in lecture halls (you can read a recap from a recent graduate here).
