IT foundation now in place for Clinical Transformation Project.
Northwestern accomplished another step in the Clinical Transformation Project, announcing the selection of GE Healthcare’s Centricity Practice Solution as our new Practice Management System. Centricity is a leading and feature-rich system that will provide the business and operational foundation for Clinical Transformation through clinic appointment scheduling, patient registration, billing, and accounts receivable management. Centricity is expected to be “live” at Northwestern clinics in early 2013.
As previously announced, the BackChart electronic health record will provide the clinical foundation for Clinical Transformation by enabling Northwestern providers to easily view patient electronic charts, document care provided and planned, and take advantage of powerful clinical decision support capabilities to benefit our patients.
These important information technology elements form the necessary and vital technology foundation for the project as illustrated below.
BackChart and Centricity will be electronically linked and integrated to facilitate data sharing that will promote both operational and clinical efficiencies. With that solid foundation in place, Northwestern will move “up the pyramid” in our Clinical Transformation Vision.
