Clinic Staff Prepares to Implement Upgrades

Work begins on practice management system.
Northwestern is moving closer to implementing the new technology that is the foundation of the clinical transformation process. The two key systems are BackChart, the electronic health record, and GE Centricity Practice Management System. A number of work teams are collaborating on the infrastructure needed to create templates and interface of the systems. The highlights of the progress to date include:
- Hiring a project coordinator to provide project support for the Clinical Transformation project. Her name is Kelly Small and she started December 3;
- Gwen Brown will be playing a lead role in the GE Centricity practice management system implementation project. The kickoff for this project took place November 29;
- On-campus support from BackChart is generally available on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to address issues and answer questions. E-mail or call Jordan Bronston for appointment time, or walk-in; 612.743.3178 or email@example.com. BackChart burning issues sessions are also being planned for Wednesdays at noon – more to come on these; and
- A reminder of an offer previously made by BackChart: as part of the agreement with Northwestern and BackChart®’s commitment to the growth of chiropractic and other natural health care professions, Northwestern graduates are eligible to receive fully-paid, royalty-free licensure to use the web-based HER, BackChart® COS, during their first year following graduation. There are no contracts and you can cancel anytime. Visit www.backchart.com to learn more.
The project oversight team welcomes your comments, questions and feedback about the process.
