Human Performance Master’s Degree

The MHS in Human Performance brings together a diverse community of sports professionals. Chiropractors, physical therapists, athletic trainers, and performance professionals form a collaborative, evidence-informed community. 

With two specializations and a commitment to maximizing your eligible transfer/prior learning credits, the program can be customized to fit your needs: whether you’re pursuing a specific certification, seeking the credibility of a master’s degree, or simply seeking advanced expertise in athlete recovery, performance readiness, and applied analytics. 

A master’s degree can add credibility and translate more readily to multidisciplinary professional environments. When designing this program, we heard from accomplished sports chiropractors that it can be important to have the validation of a master’s degree when seeking jobs in sports and performance organizations. 

Depending on your background and previous experience, with an MHS in Human Performance you could advance into roles including:   

• Sport Science Coordinator or Manager  
• Human Performance Lead

Yes. Our team helps you maximize eligible transfer credits. This not only reduces time and cost; it allows you to focus on courses that add real value.   

If you hold an advanced degree—including Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) and Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), and/or have sports certifications, our admissions counselors can help you understand how much prior learning credit you’ll receive. Some students will bring in 12 credits, or 40% of the program—resulting in serious time and cost savings.  

To be accepted into the Master of Health Science in Human Performance, you must have a bachelor’s or professional degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Health Sciences, Athletic training, or other related field from an accredited institution with a 2.5 GPA. Or hold a professional healthcare professional such as DC, MD/DO, RN, DAcCM/MAC, etc.

We recommend that you submit your application 1 to 6 months before your intended start term. We will accept applications up to two weeks before the start of the term, depending on class availability.

Unlike sports analytics programs built around team-level business and game strategy, NWHSU’s program focuses on performance analytics for the individual athlete — readiness, recovery, and injury prevention.

You’ll graduate exam-ready or near ready for key post-grad certificates, including Certified Performance & Sport Scientist (CPSS), Certified Chiropractic Sports Physicians® (CCSP), and International Certificate in Sports Chiropractic (ICSC).

This program is built for working professionals, with optional in-person experiences in the Human Performance Center.
