Library FAQ
Can I access my Grammarly account after graduation?
- The upgraded Grammarly account is only available to current students. If you’re close to graduation, we recommend that you: 1) download any documents saved in the Grammarly app and 2) consider creating your own Grammarly account. Any accounts using an “@nwhealth.edu” email address will be forced to log in using the NWHSU login system and will no longer work for Grammarly after graduation. If you are past this window and need to access your Grammarly documents, please contact IT or the library, and we will try to assist you.
Can I access library services after graduation?
- There are many library services you can use after you graduate. The library has a generous guest policy that is extended to alumni and other health practitioners. If you come to the library in person, you can access most databases, as well as use our print collection and library facility. For more complete information about resources, no matter where you are located, check out our Library Resources for Alumni guide.
Can I check out a laptop?
- Laptop computers are available for student checkout for use at NWHSU, including Examsoft software installed and up-to-date. These laptops are intended as a short-term, temporary loan and cannot be taken off campus. Laptops can be checked out at the library front desk. Review the Student Laptop Loaners page for complete details.
What is your visitor policy?
- Northwestern alumni, healthcare practitioners, and the general public are welcome to visit the Greenawalt Library to locate health-related information. The building is accessible to guests during the hours that our campus store is open. If you need to visit the library outside of those hours, you must arrange an appointment in advance by emailing us at library@nwhealth.edu. Please read our Library Guest Policy for further information.
Do you have a copy of my textbook?
- We will try to purchase a copy of all required textbooks. They are available at the library front desk and can be checked out for two hours. These copies are not meant to replace the need to purchase/rent a required textbook. Find your required textbooks using the Virtual Bookstore. Visit the front desk to locate and check out the books you need.
Can I download this article and email it to my class?
- In addition to traditional copyright restrictions, the users of our electronic resources have certain responsibilities. Please review our Responsibilities of Users of Electronic Resources document for more details.
Can you buy this book/video/model for the library? or What happened to my favorite book?
- We use a Collection Development Policy to guide our decisions on library purchases and long-term collection management. You can view the policy here. If you have any specific questions, please contact the library.
Do you take donations?
- The Greenawalt Library accepts donations of materials from faculty and emeritus faculty, staff, students, or alumni if the materials support the University’s curriculum and academic programs. To learn more about the donation process, see the Gifts/Donations section of our Collection Development Policy.
What accessibility accommodations will I find in the library?
- The library strives to be a welcoming and inclusive place for its users. View a list of tools and accommodations available upon request.
How do I access items in the Archives?
- If you’re interested in viewing an item in the archives, please contact the library in advance. We will locate the item(s) and arrange a time when Library Staff are available to help. In some cases, items can be scanned or copied and sent electronically. Archives items may be used by any library user; a student ID or driver’s license must be left at the desk, and the items must stay in the library. Please read our Archives and Special Collections Policies to learn more about the scope and purpose of the collection.
