Radiation Therapy Program Admission Requirements
Radiation Therapy – admission requirements include:
- High school diploma or a General Educational Development diploma (GED)
- Cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 or higher
- Cumulative GPA is calculated only on college-level credits (including PSEO) if applicants have completed 13 or more college-level credits
- Cumulative GPA is calculated only using high school GPA if applicants have completed less than 13 college-level credits
- Submission of an application
- Provide 2 professional references*
- *References: Provide the name, email address, and phone number of two references whom you have known for at least six months. An email address and phone number is required, so please have this information available when you apply. Relatives are not accepted as references.
- Clinical Shadow Rotations
- On-Campus Track: Eight hours of adequate shadowing
- Distance Ed Track: Completion of the Distance Education Steps, including sixteen hours of adequate shadowing and a clinical affiliation site
- Personal essay following the completion of your shadow experiences
- Each applicant will be evaluated, and the top candidates will be invited to an interview with our selection committee.

Radiation Therapy Application Personal Essay
Following your shadow experience(s), please write 700 to 1000 words essay addressing the following:
- Part 1: Tell us about your background and what you feel is pertinent to your continued education and future profession.
- Part 2: Describe the responsibilities and key skills required for a radiation therapist. Based on your shadow experience, describe what characteristics would make a successful Radiation Therapist and why you feel you would be a good fit for this program
Radiation Therapy Program Prerequisites
- There are no prerequisites for entry to the program; however, there are several core science courses as well as an introductory lab course that must be completed during the student’s first trimester in the program in order to progress further into the curriculum
- We highly recommend completing 13 or more college-level credits, including Pre-Calculus and Anatomy & Physiology 1 and 2, prior to applying.
