A Letter of Condolence from Dr. Bushway | Remembering Dr. John B. Wolfe, Jr.

Dear Northwestern Health Sciences University Community,

We recognize that some of you may have already learned this sad news through other channels. Out of respect for the family’s wishes, we delayed the immediate news of our colleague.

It is with a heavy heart that I inform you that our beloved faculty member, Dr. John Burton Wolfe, Jr., passed away yesterday after suffering a medical emergency. Dr. Wolfe slipped away peacefully while surrounded by his devoted wife, Betsy, and his loving sons, John and Robert.

Northwestern Health Sciences University was a foundational part of Dr. Wolfe’s life. Founded by his father, John Burton Wolfe, Sr., Dr. Wolfe spent nearly half his life studying or teaching at Northwestern. He was beloved by students for his grace, and by colleagues for his wit. A talented researcher and writer, he also tirelessly advanced the study of chiropractic history.

There are no words to express the significance of his loss to our institution. There is no doubt that Dr. Wolfe would want our community to move forward, carrying on his legacy of devotion to the study and practice of chiropractic. His family kindly requests that we respect their wish for privacy during this difficult time. Details for a funeral service will follow.
