Master of Acupuncture:

1. Minimum of 60 semester credits a bachelor’s degree level.
2. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
3. Meet the pre-reqs or co-requisites with a C- or better
4. Meets additional qualifications of academic and technical standards
5. Complete an application

Doctor of Acupuncture with a Chinese Herbal Medicine Specialization (DAcCHM)

1. Minimum of 90 semester credits a bachelor’s degree level.
2. Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.75 on a 4.0 scale.
3. Meet the pre-reqs or co-requisites with a C- or better
4. Meets additional qualifications of academic and technical standards
5. Complete an application

You can log in to the Student Application Portal to start your online application. At any time, you may save your application, logout, and complete it later. There is a non-refundable $50.00 application fee required with submission of your application.

We recommend that you submit your application for the College of Acupuncture program 3 to 6 months in advance of your intended start term. We will consider applications for an upcoming term up to 3 weeks prior to the term. Please note, if the class is full, or your application is incomplete, you may be asked to change your start term.

• Tuition for the Master of Acupuncture program is $52,313, an average of $6,597 per trimester.

Yes, NWHSU’s Master of Acupuncture and Doctor of Acupuncture with Chinese herbal medicine specialization programs are accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Acupuncture and Herbal Medicine (ACAHM).

Northwestern Health Sciences University is accredited by the Higher Learning Commission (hlcommission.org), a regional accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education. 

The majority of acupuncturists own and operate their own clinics. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, most acupuncturists are self-employed.

Owning a business is not for everyone, however, and it’s not the only option. A growing number of acupuncturists are pursuing acupuncture jobs within the healthcare system where they can focus more on patients and research. Acupuncturists are employed in integrative care clinics, the VA, athletic facilities, and hospitals.
