These scholarships are available to students in the College of Chiropractic. We thank our generous donors for creating and sustaining student scholarships. Their generosity allows students to study chiropractic at Northwestern and become leaders in their profession. Find out how to apply.

Dr. Cory D. Anderson Memorial Scholarship

Established to honor the memory of Cory D. Anderson, DC, who was loved and respected by his family, friends and patients. Dr. Anderson was deeply committed to chiropractic and compassionate care.

Dr. Vincent A. Pankrantz Memorial Scholarship

An endowed scholarship established by the family and friends of Vincent A. Pankrantz, DC, a 1949 graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic.  Dr. Pankrantz passed away on Dec. 16, 2004.

Dr. John B. Wolfe Scholarship

Established to honor John B. Wolfe, DC, who founded Northwestern College of Chiropractic in 1941 and served as president for 42 years.

Dr. Norman Horns Faculty Legacy Scholarship

Created in December 2002 by then-T6 students at Northwestern College of Chiropractic who kicked off a drive to raise $10,000 for the scholarship fund. The class named the scholarship after Norman Horns, MD, associate professor, due to his dedication to the student body and his free, extracurricular review courses designed to help students pass their National Board exams. The purpose of the scholarship is to assist students at Northwestern while at the same time honor all the professors the students have come to love and respect.

Gail Sawyer Scholarship

Gail Sawyer was the beloved wife of Russell E. Sawyer, Jr., DC, a 1982 graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic. She was also the recording secretary of the American Chiropractic Association. An endowed fund was established from in her memory from many memorial gifts.

Standard Process® Scholarship

Established to recognize an individual who has made a significant impact at Northwestern Health Sciences University. The recipient must show excellence demonstrated by outstanding, initiative, impact of work, and community involvement. By recognizing excellence, this award will motivate others to be involved in service to their communities, Northwestern and the profession of natural health care. Final selection is made by Standard Process.

Stewards of Chiropractic Scholarships

Established in 2005, awards are provided by contributions from alumni and friends of Northwestern Health Sciences University who are members of the Stewards of Chiropractic giving program.

Dr. David L. Dehen Memorial Scholarship

Established by the family of Dr. David Dehen to honor his vision and passion for the chiropractic profession. As a family, they witnessed the efforts of Dr. Dehen and his colleagues to make chiropractic the respected and accepted profession that it is today. The family admired Dr. Dehen’s leadership within the chiropractic profession and community. The family would like the recipient to have an understanding and true appreciation of those who went before them and what it means to them in their practices today.

Established by the University Board of Trustees in recognition of Edward L. Wallick, DC, for his dedication and service to the profession and to the College of Chiropractic.

Dr. J. Lamoine De Rusha Scholarship

Established when J. Lamoine De Rusha, DC, and his wife, Klara, were honored at the 1983 College of Chiropractic Homecoming.

Dr. John and Rita McKiernan Scholarship

Established by John and Rita McKiernan, parents of Joe and Jim McKiernan who are both graduates of Northwestern College of Chiropractic. The McKiernan’s established this scholarship because they were so pleased that their two sons are happy and successful in their profession. They want to assist others in their pursuit of a career in chiropractic.

Dr. Ronald R. Bubel Memorial Scholarship

Ronald. R. Bubel, DC, was a well known and much loved doctor of chiropractic in South Dakota, as well as a long-time supporter of the College of Chiropractic. Dr. Bubel served in every elected position of the South Dakota Chiropractic Association. He was elected Secretary-Treasurer in 1978 and served in this position until 1999. Dr. Bubel also served many years on the University Board of Trustees. The scholarship is funded through the Dr. Ronald R. Bubel Memorial Fund, established in 2004 by the South Dakota Chiropractic Association to honor the memory of this incredible man and colleague. This scholarship was established to assist a deserving student from South Dakota.

Dr. Frank Sovinsky Memorial Scholarship 

This scholarship is available to a student in the Doctor of Chiropractic program.  All scholarship applicants will be required to read the book The E-Myth Chiropractor, co-authored by Dr. Frank Sovinsky.  Student must have Cumulative GPA of 2.8 or higher.

The Robert and Joey Crotteau Memorial Scholarship

Established in memory of Robert and Joey Crotteau, two of the six victims killed in the 2004 Wisconsin deer hunting tragedy.  Robert and Joey are the brother and nephew of Steven Crotteau, DC, a 2002 graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic and father and brother of Carter Crotteau, DC, a 2011 graduate of the College of Chiropractic.  The funds for this endowed shcolarship are raised during the annual Northwestern Higher Aim Hunt and Shoot.

Sweere Academic Scholars Award

Established through the generosity of Harry and Janice Sweere, the brother and sister-in-law of retired Northwestern professor Joseph Sweere, DC. The Sweere Family Scholarship Fund represents an endowment gift of $1,000,000 by Harry and Janice Sweere, the founders of Ergotron, Inc. - an internationally recognized company that designs and markets ergonomic computer mounting solutions.

The scholarship is awarded automatically based on having one of the highest grade point averages of all chiropractic students. There is no application procedure.

Anticipated award amount: $1,000 first year (awarded each subsequent year to those students who maintain their academic position - up to a maximum of $4,000)

V. Duane Henre Scholarship

Established in memory of V. Duane Henry who served as assistant to the president for Institutional Advancement and Alumni Affairs at Northwestern College of Chiropractic from 1979-1985.

Dr. Alfred D. and Ann Traina Scholarship

Established by the College of Chiropractic Alumni Association in honor of Alfred D. Traina, DC, the president of Northwestern Health Sciences University from 2001 to 2006 and his wife, Ann. Dr. Traina is recognized for his unselfish devotion to the University and natural health care.

Joel Demoskoff Memorial Scholarship

An endowed fund established by classmates, University faculty and staff in memory of Joel Demoskoff.  Joel passed away in November 2003 from natural causes at the age of 25 while in his first trimester at Northwestern College of Chiropractic.  Joel is remembered for his quiet confidence, subtle humor, gentle spirit, fierce loyalty and excellence in everything he undertook.

Dr. John F. Allenburg Scholarship

Established by the College of Chiropractic Alumni Association Board in honor of John F. Allenburg, DC, President of Northwestern Health Sciences University from 1992-2001. Dr. Allenburg has given nearly 40 years of his life in service to Northwestern and the chiropractic profession.

Douglas Scholarship

Janet Douglas, DC, a 1979 graduate of Northwestern College of Chiropractic, and her husband, Larry, established a permanent fund from proceeds of the Classic Car benefit drawing held during Homecoming in the early 1980s. Dr. Douglas and her husband donated a 1939 Ford Tudor for the benefit.
