Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine
Acupuncture enhances the body’s energy by stimulating prescribed points with ultra-fine needles, mild heat, manual pressure, or gentle electrical current.
By stimulating the body to heal itself, acupuncture reduces the need for drugs. Additionally, it offers a conservative alternative to orthopedic surgery and other riskier therapies.
The beneficial effects of acupuncture may be strengthened by the use of Chinese herbal formulas. These formulas have been developed over thousands of years. They can be customized to the unique needs of each individual patient.
Acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine are commonly used to address insomnia, anxiety, depression, attention deficit disorder, hypothyroidism, rheumatoid arthritis, support with the side effects of cancer treatments, fatigue, and brain fog.
Acupuncturists at Sweere Clinic have highly specialized training and experience. They can also address complex conditions, including pelvic floor dysfunction and various pain syndromes in adults and children. Furthermore, we offer post-operation support of colorectal, gynecology, and urology conditions.
Chiropractic
Chiropractic care is a unique, yet separate branch of the healing arts. It addresses symptoms and conditions with a primary focus on the neuromusculoskeletal system.
It is a non-surgical, non-drug approach to promoting your body’s ability to heal itself. Your Doctor of Chiropractic considers everything that contributes to your overall health and wellbeing. This includes your health history, family history, current symptoms, eating habits, work, and lifestyle.
At Sweere Clinic, our chiropractors have an additional certification in the following chiropractic specializations: Functional Neurology, Gonstead Technique, and NUCCA.
Functional Neurology
As a specialty of chiropractic, functional neurology takes an integrative approach. It assesses how your body’s neurologic, metabolic, nutritional, and biomechanical systems are interacting with one another.
What does this mean for you? Beyond looking at the structure and alignment of your spine, your provider may also pay attention to your visual system, your inner ear, your diet, and more to understand what is causing your symptoms.
Research has proven that the brain can change and develop new connections at all ages. A functional neurologist’s treatment—including traditional chiropractic adjustment, visual therapies, and vestibular therapies (balance/inner ears)—works to enhance the performance of the brain and nervous system. These therapies can increase neuroplasticity and help your nervous system to work more efficiently and build new connections.
Patients who benefit most from treatment with a functional neurology perspective have chronic, neurological symptoms (dizziness, vertigo, balance problems, headaches) and/or have experienced trauma, such as a concussion or stroke.
Dr. Erik Reis and Dr. Michael Hennes are Board Certified Chiropractic Functional Neurologists.

NUCCA
The NUCCA (National Upper Cervical Chiropractic Association) technique is a gentle form of chiropractic without pushing, twisting, or rapid adjustments. NUCCA doctors use precise x-rays of the head and neck and mathematical measurement analysis to pinpoint and correct each person’s unique misalignment pattern.
After your first adjustment, a NUCCA doctor will take a post x-ray to show how the spine responded. Because NUCCA technique pinpoints the cause, there will be less need for repeated corrections, as the body wants to heal itself.
The NUCCA technique is a great option for those with fear of traditional chiropractic adjustments. Patients with chronic headaches or neck pain, mental health problems, or arthritis may benefit most from seeing a NUCCA doctor.
Dr. Kerry Johnson is a board-certified NUCCA doctor and credentialed instructor.

Physical Therapy
Physical therapists utilize evidence-based approaches to diagnosing and treating a wide variety of impairments that limit a person’s ability to move or perform functional and athletic activities, whether it is related to an acute injury, chronic pain, or following surgery. As movement experts, they will address all aspects of movement impairment. This includes mobility, strength, and neuromuscular coordination in order to improve and optimize an individual’s function and performance. The physical therapist will evaluate, diagnose, and treat the movement dysfunctions through a variety of methods including manual and instrument-assisted soft tissue mobilization, pain-relieving modalities, and a customized home exercise program.
For individuals who have less pain, or who suffer from chronic or recurrent injury cycles, we offer wellness services focusing on functional movement sequencing and postural restoration in order to improve longevity, maintain joint stability, and prevent degenerative musculoskeletal disease states. Corrective exercises will be prescribed in order to improve the body’s maintenance of its center of gravity to prevent movement compensation, increase core stability, and progress through three major stages:
- Injury Restoration and Prevention
- Return to Function/Activity
- Return to Sport

Nutrition
Optimal nutrition is imperative for good health, efficient body function, body organ activity, and performance. Nutrition is also a key factor in maintaining a healthy weight and a healthy body fat ratio, optimizing and rebuilding strong and healthy tissues, and also key for healthy aging and vitality. Without proper nutrition, significant consequences can ensue both physically, mentally, and even unseen internally. We offer nutrition services with a registered dietician who will categorize and prioritize nutritional deficiencies and imbalances. These are customized to each individual in order to optimize body composition and response to physical exercise and other stressors and lifestyle conditions.

Massage Therapy
Fluid uses therapeutic massage to help people manage or recover from a wide range of conditions, including fibromyalgia, back and neck pain, arthritis, migraines, diabetic nerve pain, sports and auto-accident related injuries, and even psychological disorders including anxiety and depression (since mental and emotional stress is often neurologically carried into and stored in physical tissues). A professional massage provided by a clinical massage therapist can even ease the effects of chemotherapy and can hasten the healing process in post-surgical patients.
Therapeutic massage involves a wide range of manual techniques (provided by clinical massage therapists) that can be used to target specific tissues in your body, including muscles, fascia, lymph nodes, joints, and tendons. Techniques include deep tissue, therapeutic, sports, or pressure point massage. Deep tissue is beneficial to athletes and anyone who needs to relieve tension in their deep musculature. Therapeutic massage is more gentle and targets more superficial tissues. It is perfect for anyone looking to relax and relieve mental as well as physical stress. Pressure point massage is effective for relieving tender points within the body’s fascial tissue (which protectively encases connective tissue).
At Fluid, we conduct a biomechanical assessment on every member, looking at their posture and movement quality. During the biomechanical assessment and the subsequent massage sessions.
