Hypermobility/EDS Panel Discussion

February 13 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm
Join us for this in-person event to explore the continuum of hypermobility and Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (EDS) through the lens of integrative care.
Our collective understanding of these conditions and their implications has increased dramatically over recent years. We will be joined by a panel of providers who will share their perspectives on treatment and adaptations for manual therapies such as physical therapy, massage, TCM, and chiropractic.

Hypermobility is a condition that features joints that stretch farther than normal.

Our panelists will be:

Tom Pastor, DC
Jordan Davies, MA
Chris Major, DC, DACBR, ATC

Shea Gillian, doula and MT

Panelist Bios

As a Chiropractic Doctor with advanced training in neuroscience and a passion for understanding human behavior, Tom Pastor, DC is on a mission to help his patients understand what’s going on with their bodies and build nuanced, often unconventional strategies to help improve their health and well-being. His knowledge and creativity stems not only from his study of health and wellness as a chiropractor but his history of working with actors and artists in live theater. Dr. Tom is especially fond of helping those diagnosed with chronic or “incurable” conditions such as auto-immunity, hyper-mobility, and mental health concerns to minimize the impact that those conditions have on their life and overall well-being. When he’s not working, you probably won’t be able to find him. As an expert introvert, he’s likely recharging somewhere on his own, or spending time with his equally introverted partner. He enjoys gardening, walking around a local park while listening to audiobooks, nerding out about neuroscience (yes, even during his off hours), and sitting at the kids’ table with his niece and nephews.
Jordan Davies is the Co-Owner of Complete Performance. Jordan has her B.S. in Exercise Science and Psychology from the University of Minnesota-Duluth where she played for 4 years.  She then received her M.A. in Holistic Health Studies from St. Catherine University while serving as the graduate assistant coach for the softball team.  She is a NSCA CSCS certified strength and conditioning coach and a certified nutrition coach through Precision Nutrition (Level 1), Nutrition Coaching Institute (Level 1 & 2), NCI Gut & Hormone Specialist & Girls Gone Strong Level 1 & 2. She loves to help others learn how to move their body and fuel themselves to fit an active lifestyle.
Chris Major, DC, DACBR, ATC, is an associate professor in the department of diagnostic imaging at Northwestern Health Sciences University (NWHSU).  He teaches courses on spinal anatomy, congenital anomalies, trauma, and arthritis.  He also practices radiology with the Radiological Consultation Services at NWHSU.
Prior to attending chiropractic school, Dr. Major graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire with a degree in Athletic Training, where he had the opportunity to work with a wide variety of athletes, including an internship with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs.
He is a chiropractor with a special passion for radiology and teaching. He enjoys camping, cross-country skiing, and playing on a small hobby farm with his wife and daughter.
Shea Roberts Gyllen (they/them) is a massage therapist (NCTMB, CST, NMT) and doula supporting reproductive and transitional health. They are co-founder of Nisse Body and Birth and just joined the team at Serenity Acupuncture. An NWHSU alum, Shea approaches trauma competent bodywork through a blend of client goals, body function, and intuition. They work primarily with people in the childbearing years, folks navigating neurodivergence and trauma, and athletes. In addition to their journey in bodywork they have been a birth professional, educator, performer, and producer. They will nerd out about body function as quickly as they will nerd out about Dungeons and Dragons.

This event is brought to you by the Institute for Integrative Care in partnership with the Clinical Innovation Committee.
