NWHSU Sponsors Self Care Fair at 3rd Annual Rise and Remember Event

The George Floyd Global Memorial (GFGM) will host their 3rd annual Rise and Remember event May 25-27 at George Floyd Square in south Minneapolis and other various locations in Minnesota. This year’s theme is Obuntu: Make the Impossible, Possible.

The celebration holds space to remember George Floyd and those who have been lost to systemic racism and police brutality. Over the three-day event, there will be activities that focus on education, empowerment, healing, community and the pursuit of racial justice and equity. This includes a conference, candlelight vigil, gala, and festival.

Northwestern Health Sciences University is sponsoring a self-care fair on Saturday, May 27th from 12-6pm, featuring Black, Indigenous, and people of color healers, as well as NWHSU massage therapy interns.

Dr. Michele Renee, the lead on the project, shares, “The Rise and Remember event will be a rich opportunity to support and learn about important perspectives in peace and justice, health equity and determinants of health.”
